hey!
so what is a "save the date?"
save the dates are basically a pre invitation letting your guests know that you are getting married and when you are doing so and giving them time to prepare with things like time of work if needed.
save the dates are generally sent out 12 months before the wedding and should really only be sent to the guests you intend to invite for the whole day.
now whilst save the dates are not compolsarry they are a polite notice to let people know your plans and plan accordingly espically if you are getting married at a busy time of year such as in the summer holidays or around Christmas or new year.
wedding invitations...
these are usually sent out 6 month before the wedding and should contain as much information as possible such as...
the names of the people you are inviting, if you are having a child free wedding, is it a full day invite or just an evening invitation.
with regards to the times put a time that is at least 15 minutes before the ceremony to allow people to get seated before the bride arrives!
have a clear RSVP date and include a phone number/email address or a return card and address for people to RSVP to.
if the dates passes and you still have guests that have not RSVP'd then don't be afraid to chase them up to get an answer and be firm you have a deadline to! and the last thing you need is unexpected people turning up expecting to be seated and fed.
now relax and enjoy the rest of the planning!

hey!!
so you have chosen the perfect cake for your big day but you don't know what size cake you will need to feed your guests?
this simple guide should give you some idea so you don't end up with a kitchen full of left over cake after your big day or a very unhappy aunt because there just wasn't enough to go round.

this simple guide should give you some idea so you don't end up with a kitchen full of left over cake after your big day or a very unhappy aunt because there just wasn't enough to go round.
now you have your basic size guide and your looking at your perfect cake and now your standing at looking at it thinking how on earth do I cut this cake so it will feed all my guests..
well option 1 is to ask the staff at your venue to do it for you but if you don't have that option then you can always do it yourself or ask one of your bridesmaids or even the mother of the groom....
here is a simple guide on how to cut that cake!!!
now you have your cake and can eat it too!!!
enjoy!

Hey
so this week at darling brides we have been visiting suppliers for veils & tiaras this is a long process as we have to check the quality of all the products and also make sure they are going to be what our brides want before making a final decision on which suppliers we use for what. But its also the fun and exciting bit as we got to see some amazing products so also means we are one step closer to our website launch!....... scary stuff!!!
now we wasn't allowed to take photos of any of the veils and tiaras at this stage so instead here is a pic of our "branded" pencils because we just couldn't resist them!

lets talk wedding favours....
the days of the sugared almonds seem to be behind us as wedding favours have become a bit more exciting and in some cases a bit more extravagant!
with most weddings now having a sweet table of some kind we seem to be moving away from edible favours all together.
at my own wedding 7 years ago we had personalised guitar picks!
since then I have been to weddings that have had mini perfume/aftershaves, candles, scratch cards, hot chocolate spoons, mini bottles of alcohol and my personal favourite .... charity pins!
I think a lot of us tend to forget that a wedding favour is meant to be a small gesture to say thank you to your guests for coming to your wedding and speaking from personal experience most of them get left behind, some couples even decide not to have wedding favours!.... but whatever you decide to have make sure you keep one for you and your groom.

hey!!
how you all doing?
so this week we have been looking at the wonderful world of chair covers!
now normally when people say chair covers we think of white stretchy covers and an organza bow which is fine if that's what your looking for...BUT what if we told you it doesn't have to be that way? that you can create beautiful looking chairs for your ceremony or reception with minimal effort that will just ooooze gorgousness? and that you can match to your theme! from lush Grecian themes to soft romantics to playful rainbows ..... heres what we found!

HEY!
so last month we attended the elite London wedding event at the Hilton hotel it was a beautiful venue and the event had a wonderful Grecian theme we had VIP tickets because..... well why not? haha we was treated to champagne and canopes on arrival which included cake samples from the amazing cakery in essex and a delightful elderflower drink which I have completely fallen in love with!!

any way what we took away from this event is that Grecian style themes are going to be big for 2016/17 which can be portrayed in different ways from the soft romantic floral look to the bolder gold statement look.
also looking hot for 2016/17 is is gorgeous back detail to dresses and sleeves! which is fab if like us you like to keep your arms covered but still want to look and feel amazing which is really all we want on our wedding day.
we are very excited to see more of the Grecian range as these dresses really are flattering for all shapes and sizes.
